The MG ZS is the best-selling electric vehicle above 4 meter in length in India. The electric SUV has recently received a mid-life facelift. Interestingly, MG Motor India has already started working on the ZS EV facelift and the upgraded version of its ICE sibling – the MG Astor. In fact, patent images of the facelift version of the MG Astor and the ZS EV have leaked online. The patent images reveal that the MG Astor SUV will receive a major makeover. The SUV will have a completely new front fascia, featuring a new grille and headlamp setup. It comes with an all-new bumper that accommodates large intakes on either side.
The upgraded MG ZS EV is also expected to
receive similar changes; however, it will have an EV-like blanked-out front
grille and newly designed alloy wheels. The side profile of the SUV looks
largely identical to the existing model. The current model has MG logo at the
centre of its grille. The logo is now placed on the sculpted bonnet of the
upgraded model.
Interior details of the new Astor are not
revealed, but it is likely to receive significant changes. The cabin is likely
to take inspiration from the MG 4 EV. The vehicle could get a segment-largest
touchscreen infotainment system and minimum physical buttons on the centre
console. The MG Astor is available with two petrol engine options – a 1.3-litre
turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre NA petrol. While the former is good for
138 bhp and 230 Nm of torque, the naturally-aspirated petrol motor is capable of
producing 109 bhp of power and 144 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a
6-speed manual, a CVT and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
On the flip side, the new MG ZS EV comes
fitted with a 50.3 kWh battery pack and an electric motor that produces 174 bhp
and 353 Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer a certified range of 461 km on a
single charge. The electric SUV is claimed to achieve 0 to 100 km/h acceleration
in 8.5 seconds.
