When it was new, the Ferrari 488 Pista had a starting price of just over US$ 330,000 in the United States but prices have jumped since then, with plenty listed online for upwards of half a million dollars. This particular 488 Pista is one of the most expensive we’ve come across but not without good reason. This example has been listed up for sale courtesy of Boardwalk Ferrari in Plano, Texas, and was configured through the Tailor Made program. As such, the original owner had it configured to its exact taste, opting for a stunning color known as Blu Swatters Opaco, which is available through Ferrari’s ‘Extra Campionario’ palette.
It’s not just the matte blue paint that
makes this 488 Pista more special than most. A matte silver racing stripe runs
along the center of the car while elements including the front splitter, side
skirts, and the intricate rear diffuser are all made from blue-tinted carbon
fiber. While we’ve become quite accustomed to seeing colored carbon fiber from
the likes of Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Pagani, and McLaren in recent years, it’s not
an option that many Ferrari owners select. The exterior of the mid-engined
supercar also rocks the Scuderia Shields on the front quarter panels, silver
wheels, and blue brake calipers.
Ferrari’s Tailor Made division has also
had its way with the interior of the car. The seats, steering wheel, dashboard,
door panels, and transmission tunnel are all wrapped in bright red leather
while most other elements are finished in blue carbon fiber to match the
exterior. Among the blue carbon parts are the steering wheel, air vent
surrounds, and large parts of the door panels. The special Pista also has blue
seat belts and dark blue leather on the seats.
All up, this 488 Pista has approximately US$ 150,000 in Tailor Made options, so it’s little surprise that it has an
eye-watering price tag of US$ 612,900.
