Mazda has updated its entire family of Flair Wagons, including the sported-up Custom version. Prices in Japan start from 1,451,100 Yen. Starting with the 2024 Flair Wagon Custom, you will recognize it by the new front bumper and radiator grille. Its vanilla counterpart is harder to tell from the pre-facelift version due to how small the changes are: the front bumper and the trim piece between the headlights have been subtly redesigned, the a-pillars have been thinned down for better visibility, and that’s about all. Customers can choose from nine available finishes, including two-tone combos.
The main novelty inside comes in the form
of extendable rear seat bases. Mazda claims it is the first time anyone uses
this design feature. Taller people can extend their seat base for comfort, kids
may use it as a footrest, and if you are transporting luggage on the back seat,
you can pull out the extra pillow to keep it from falling.
Judging by the images, the control panel
next to the transmission lever is new, and the dashboard has a different
4.5-inch display installed. As for the features, heated steering wheel, a few
USB ports and an electronic handbrake are now included in the base trim. The
electronic assist package now benefits from improved radars and cameras and can
automatically slow down before intersections in ACC mode. Mazda says that
lanekeeping and pedestrian-aware automatic braking have also been improved both
on streets and intersections.
