Callaway AeroWagon package for Corvette
Callaway has introduced its new
AeroWagen package for the Chevrolet Corvette and Corvette Z06.
Designed to turn the Corvette into a
shooting brake, the AeroWagen package includes a one piece carbon fiber
composite structure which will "significantly" improve the model's
cargo capacity. The entire structure in finished in natural carbon fiber but
the company can paint the hatch to match the car's body color.
Despite looking like a drastic change,
the hatch uses the car's original seals, hinge, and latch mechanisms. The rear interior also carries over and
owners will still be able to remove the Corvette's targa top. Callaway went on
to say the hatch's installation is straight-forward and reversible so owners
can revert back to the original hatchback if desired.
Since no performance modifications are
included as part of the package, the Corvette AeroWagen is powered by a
6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of
torque. The Corvette Z06 AeroWagen, on
the other hand, has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of
torque.
Pricing information hasn't been released
but Callaway is currently accepting orders and plans to begin performing
installations in California and Connecticut during the fourth quarter of 2016.
