2017 Genesis G80

The 2017 Genesis G80 has just been detailed for the U.S. market and while no pricing details have been released, it promises to offer serious bang-for-your-buck for such a premium sedan.

In the U.S., customers will be able to choose between two different engines which don't include the new twin-turbo V6. The most affordable of the two comes in the shape of a petrol-driven 3.8-liter V6 delivering some 311 hp and 293 lb-ft of torque. For the power-hungry among us, there is also a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 offering up a more than acceptable 420 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.

Whichever engine is chosen, it is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels. As with the 2016 Hyundai-badged model, all-wheel drive is available as an optional extra for the V6 variant. While this option improves grip, it slightly decreases the car's fuel economy from 22 mpg combined down to 19 mpg combined.

Inside, the model comes complete with a host of luxurious components, such as 12-way adjustable power front seats, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and an 8-inch infotainment system providing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Among the most attractive interior options are a larger 9.2-inch display, a 17-speaker audio system from Lexicon and a number of additional wooden and aluminum trim pieces.

Among the key safety technologies is a Lane Departure Warning system, Blind Spot Detection, the option of Smart Cruise Control and Automatic Emergency Braking as standard.
