Nissan Sentra NISMO
Nissan is apparently set to reveal a production-spec
example of the Sentra NISMO at Los Angeles Auto Show 2016.
The Japanese carmaker has confirmed that a new NISMO
model will indeed debut in LA and according to Auto Guide, there's a very good
chance it will be a performance-focused version of the Sentra.
The model was first previewed by a concept some
three years ago and in recent months, prototypes have been spied testing out in
public, indicating that a global launch is imminent.
Sources from within the company
said that the model had yet to be approved for production but indicated it could
see the light of day if demanded by customers. It seems that has happened.
It could pack
the same powertrain as the concept. That would mean a turbocharged 1.8-liter
with a touch over 240 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque and mated to a six-speed
manual transmission. Power would then be sent to the front wheels through a
limited slip differential.
As for its styling, the bold and aggressive bumpers
of the concept could make their way into production with few if any changes.
