New Porsche
911 Carrera S by MCChip
Turborcharging
may have upset the purists, but from a tuner perspective it is the best thing
that happened to the regular 911. Because it’s way easier to upgrade a forced induction engine’s power output
than it is to work on a naturally-aspirated unit, and the Carrera’s new
3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six powerplant is the perfect canvas for a
company like MCCHIP-DKR.
The German
tuner has got its hands on the the 991.2 Carrera S, offering two packages that
boost the stock 420 PS and 678 Nm of torque output, all
the way up to 485 PS and 793 Nm.
The Stage 1
package is more mellow, for MCCHIP is offering only the
software upgrade for € 2,499, bumping the power to 475 PS and 773 Nm of torque. If you want to let the Porsche to really stretch
its legs, you’ll have to pay € 8,349 for the tuner to include a valve exhaust
with sport catalytic converters made by Capristo, which lets the car achieve
the maximum power rating.
Add another
€ 1,490 over the hefty price and the tuner will also include a so called
PDK-transmission optimization, deactivating the enforced up and downshifting,
resulting in increased engine RPM and faster gear shifting.
