According to a report from Car And Driver, the
2018 Honda Civic Type-R will be launched exclusively with a 6-speed manual
transmission.
The 2018 Honda Civic Type-R will be powered by a
2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The current Civic Type-R’s
2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine is tuned to produce 306 hp.
The next-gen Type-R’s engine will be a lot more powerful, with rumours placing
it at 340 hp. The all-new Honda Civic Type-R will be a FWD vehicle, and an
all-wheel drive system won’t be available unlike its close competitor, the VW
Golf R.
The 2018 Honda Civic Type-R will be manufactured
exclusively in Swindon, UK. Its sales will likely commence towards the second
half of the year.
