Patent images of the 2017 Suzuki Swift have been acquired by Auto Home indicating that the hatchback might be launched in China. From the images, it appears the design is the same as the Swift sold in Japan and Europe.

Patent sketches reveal the front view, side view, front and rear angle views of the new Swift. The patented model is identical to the Swift sold globally and the one that will come to India early next year. The version pictured missed out on front fog lamps or blacked out A-pillar indicating it could be the base model. However, it does seem to feature alloy wheels, black B- and C-pillars, rear wash wiper, and roof mounted antenna.

Top end variants of the Swift will get headlamps with projector units and LED daytime running lights along with LED stop lamps. Other highlights include C-pillar mounted rear door handle and a hexagonal grille.

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is based on the HEARTECT platform that also underpins the 2017 Maruti Dzire and the Maruti Baleno. In international markets, Suzuki offers the Swift with a choice of 1.0 L Boosterjet Petrol, 1.2 L Dualjet Petrol and a 1.2 L Petrol Mild Hybrid setup. Transmission options include a choice of 5-speed manual and CVT gearboxes. Chinese media is uncertain about the engine and transmission options of the China-spec Swift.
