TVS has teased the fuel injected ABS variant of the
TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. The Facebook page of TVS Motor company posted an image
saying “Something exciting is coming your way”. The bike’s dedicated website
shows the detailed features of the upcoming motorcycle.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 was launched in 2016, but the
ABS FI version was delayed, according to TVS, due to heavy demand for the
carburettor version.
The ABS FI version of the bike will be the flagship
offering from TVS, until the 310 arrives. The bike gets a 197.75cc single
cylinder engine with oil cooling. The peak power is 21 PS (0.5 PS more than the
carb version) at 8,500 rpm. The peak torque remains the same at 18.1 Nm at
7,000 rpm. The engine pairs with a 5-speed transmission. The 0-60 km/h
acceleration time stands at 3.9 seconds, which is faster than the carburettor
version by 0.05 seconds.
TVS has built the bike on a Double Cradle Split
Synchro Stiff Frame. A telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear
perform the suspension duties. For braking, the bike employs a 270 mm petal
disc at the front and a 240 mm petal disc at the rear. The bike gets dual
channel ABS with RLP Rear Lift-off Protection control. This system prevents the
locking up of discs during extreme braking and also prevents the lifting of the
rear end.
The bike gets a 90-section front and a 130 section
rear tubeless Remora tyres. Pirelli tyres offering superior grip are optional.
Expect the ABS FI version to cost INR 1.25 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi.
