Ever since Lamborghini presented the Aventador S
Coupe last year, fans and enthusiasts alike have been wondering when the
Roadster will receive the same upgrades. But not anymore, as the Raging Bull
has officially pulled the cover off the new Aventador S Roadster, ahead of its
world premiere that takes place at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, next week.
It features the same visual and technical upgrades
as its fixed roof sibling, bar the open-air driving experience, which is
highlighted by the removable hardtop roof panels that weigh less than 6 kg. These are said to be convexly molded to ensure maximum for the
occupants, and can be quickly removed and stored in the front trunk.
Additionally, the roof panels can be finished either
in matte black carbon fiber, at no extra cost, or high gloss black, shiny
visible carbon fiber, and further Ad Personam possibilities, as an option.
Drivers who want to hear the V12 symphony on the go can open the rear window at
the touch of a button, or close it, when the roof panels are stored inside the
trunk, to minimize airflow and cabin noise.
Removing the fixed roof came with a 50 kg weight penalty over the Coupe, with the Roadster tipping the scales at 1,625 kg dry. It needs 3.0 sec from naught to 100 km/h, before topping
out at 350 km/h. Motivation comes from the same 6.5-liter naturally
aspirated V12 engine, which churns out 740 PS and 690 Nm of
torque.
The Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster
adopts the four-wheel steering, new suspension geometry, recalibrated driving
modes, including the new EGO, and updated software in the ESC, which can
already be found on the Coupe.
The supercar is launched in the Ad Personam color
called Blue Aegir, inspired by "the peaceful turquoise ocean hiding an
indomitable force beneath". It can also be finished in other shades, while
inside, customers can choose between several Alcantara and leather options,
including the roof panels that can be covered in black Alcantara or remain
matte black carbon.
Drivers will also get to enjoy the standard carbon
ceramic brakes, 20/21-inch rims wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires, TFT digital
dashboard that can be customized, and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration
added to the infotainment system.
Prices for the facelifted version of the Lamborghini
Aventador Roadster start from € 313,666 (US$ 373,366) in Europe, £ 251,462
(US$ 326,257) in the United Kingdom, and US$ 460,247 in the States. In Japan, buyers
will have to pay at least 46,267,692 YEN (US$ 423,959), while in China, the
supercar can be had from 7,478,513 RMB (US$ 1,143,300). The first units will be
delivered in February, next year.
