A Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition once owned
by basketball great Michael Jordan is currently for sale on Auto Trader. With
an asking price of US$ 625,000, the car is far from cheap but beyond having a
particularly famous former owner, it is arguably the king of all SLR models
(excluding the Stirling Moss).
Introduced three years after the standard SLR, the
722 Edition adopted significantly bolder bodywork, including a new carbon fiber
front splitter, enlarged air extractors on the hood, a tweaked grille,
distinctive wheels and a more prominent rear diffuser. Additionally, power from
the supercharged 5.4-liter V8 was upped from the standard 617 hp to 641 hp.
The seller doesn’t mention if Jordan purchased his
722 new or if he picked it up second hand. Whatever was the case, he rarely
drove it, as evidenced by the fact that it only has 1,038 miles under its belt.
