The Renault Zoe has been updated for the 2018 model
year, and now features a more powerful electric motor called the R110 among
other revisions.
The R110 was
developed in-house within a two-year period, and is produced at Renault’s Cleon
plant in the southwest of Paris. The motor is rated at 108 hp and 225 Nm of
torque, which is 16 hp more than what the R90 could muster.
The R110’s packaging
of its enhanced electronics have not resulted in any weight or volume changes.
Performance-wise, a R110-equipped Zoe will complete the century sprint in 11.4
seconds and can reach a top speed of 135 km/h. The new car also accelerates from
80-120 km/h two seconds quicker than its predecessor.
Power is supplied to the motor from a 41-kWh
lithium-ion battery, which is claimed to offer at least 300 km of range,
according to initial assessments. The new Zoe is currently undergoing
homologation in accordance with the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test
Procedure (WLTP) that has been gradually rolled out in Europe since September
1, 2017, to replace NEDC certification.
The Zoe also gains a new exterior body colour called
Blueberry Purple, and the range-topping Intens variant can be specified with a
new Blueberry Purple Pack. The kit combines a purple exterior with a violet
satin finish for the dashboard trim strip and air vent, gear lever base,
loudspeaker surrounds, topstitching along with black and violet fabric
upholstery. Android Auto also makes its way to the R-Link Evolution
infotainment system.
