Recent talk of a 641 hp, hybrid Alfa Romeo Giulia
Coupe is enough to get anyone excited. After taking a look at these renderings,
you may even be convinced to head to a local Alfa dealer and place an order for
the car. Created by All Car News, these renderings depict a hardcore Giulia
that is wider, lower, and much more menacing than its four-door sibling.
Up front, the Giulia Coupe can be differentiated
from the sedan thanks to new LED headlights slightly larger than the units
currently in use. Obviously, the rear doors have also been removed and instead
sits a pair of elongated front doors. At the rear, the Italian sports car looks
very similar to the sedan but is also slightly wider and looks even more
appealing.
According to reports out of the UK, the Giulia Coupe
in question will pair the marque’s 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 with an energy
recovery system (ERS) to deliver a combined 641 hp. Such a figure is just 20 hp
fewer than the Ferrari 488 GTB and would give the Alfa a significant edge over
its rivals.
Details about the Formula 1-inspired ERS remain
scarce but it is possible it could be a development of the HY-LERS system used
by the LaFerrari. Input from the Sauber Formula One team is also conceivable.
