BMW has launched the third generation Z4 roadster in
India for a starting price of INR 64.90 lakh*. The redesigned model is
available at all dealerships nationwide from today onwards.
The 2019 BMW Z4 is available in India in two model
variants: sDrive20i and M40i. Internationally, there’s a mid-range sDrive30i
option as well, but that’s not on offer here. The sDrive20i uses a 2.0-litre
petrol engine producing a meagre 197 PS and 320 Nm. This engine is married to
an 8-speed automatic transmission. A 0-100 km/h sprint takes 6.6 seconds, while
the top speed is 240 km/h.
The M40i sports a 3.0-litre petrol engine that
dishes out 340 PS and 500 Nm of torque. A specially tuned 8-speed automatic
transmission works in tandem with this engine. A nought to 100 km/h
acceleration run takes 4.5 seconds, while the top speed is 250 km/h. M Sport
brakes and electronically controlled M Sport rear differential are also
included in this model variant, but the former is available optionally in
sDrive20i.
On the outside, the 2019 BMW Z4 features Adaptive
LED headlights with LED DRLs and LED turn indicators, 17-, 18- or 19-inch alloy
wheels, LED rear lights and dual exhaust tailpipes. Interior highlights include
10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen
infotainment system built-in navigation and wireless Apple CarPlay, Vernasca
leather upholstery, head-up display and Harman Kardon surround sound system
(408W, 7 channels, 12 speakers). It goes without saying that some of these
exterior and interior features are optional.
BMW imports the all-new Z4 to India in CBU form from
Graz, Austria, where contract manufacturer Magna Steyr manufactures it
alongside its platform-mate - the Toyota GR Supra.
