Kia’s high-riding vehicle lineup is three days away
from welcoming yet another member: the Seltos. As announced in this latest
video teaser, the small SUV will officially be unveiled on Thursday, June 20.
The short film is also the most revealing one yet
and confirms what we already knew: angular styling, a youthful front end and a
rather conservatively-shaped rear. If you’re having a déjà vu, that’s because
the Seltos was previewed by the SP Concept at last year’s Auto Expo, in India, and
it fully leaked at the end of May, while it was reportedly filming a
commercial.
The cabin was also visible in a previous teaser
image, showing the overall shape of the dashboard. Like all modern vehicles,
the dominating feature inside is the large infotainment screen, mounted on top
of the dashboard in this case. With a 10.25-inch diagonal, the display will
provide access to a different number of functions and will be aided by the
small screen positioned between the traditional dials. A three-spoke multi-function
steering wheel, automatic climate control, drive mode selector, ambient
lighting and some colorful trim will round up the features inside.
As for the engine lineup, we could look to the
Stonic and Niro for guidance. In all likelihood though, the power units were
chosen with each specific market in mind, as the Seltos will be a global model.
Sales will kick off in Asia first, in the second quarter of 2019.
