The Cadillac 2020 XT6 launched in China, which
will probably be its biggest market worldwide. Cadillac’s three-row midsize SUV
is available locally in five variants, with five exterior colors and four
interior color and trim options. It also adopts the dual-exterior product
strategy, offering Luxury and Sport models.
While in the States
the XT6 is powered by a 3.6-liter gasoline V6 that delivers 310 HP and 373 Nm of torque, Chinese buyers get it exclusively with GM’s
eighth-generation Ecotec 2.0T four-cylinder — the same engine adopted by
China’s facelifted XT5.
The 2.0-liter turbo
for makes 240 PS and 350 Nm of torque between
1,500 and 4,000 rpm and is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission with
optional paddle shifters. Cadillac says the engine features “multiple
efficiency-enhancing technologies, including the tripower variable valve
management system with three distinct operating modes and a high-pressure
direct injection fuel system.”
As with the U.S.
model, China’s Cadillac XT6 promises class-leading headroom for each of the
three rows of seats. It comes in six- or seven-seat configurations, with the
six-seat version being the only one in the segment to come with two captain’s
chairs in the second row. Addidionally, passengers have no less than
twenty-five storage spaces for their personal belongings.
The XT6 also comes
with a comprehensive technology package, offering features such as Active Noise
Control, standard adaptive LED matrix headlights with cornering functionality,
up to 20 standard driver assistance systems, and the new-generation Cadillac
User Experience (CUE) infotainment system with an 8-inch screen and over-the-air
update capability.
Luxury-wise,
passengers will be pampered by cut-and-sewn Opus leather seats, a choice of
exotic wood or carbon fiber finishes, 14-speaker Bose Performance sound system,
a next-generation air ionizer, UltraView power sunroof with a power sunshade,
and more.
Cadillac has priced
the 2020 XT6 in the People’s Republic between RMB 419,700 and RMB 549,700
(US$ 61,000 - US$ 78,000).
