In order to give a push to the sales of the Skoda
Rapid, the company has launched a limited edition model named Rider in India at
INR 6.99 lakh*. This special edition Skoda Rapid costs almost INR 1 lakh less
than the entry-level Rapid Active petrol variant.
The Skoda Rapid Rider is available in Candy White
and Carbon Steel exterior paint shades. In terms of exteriors, it gets
blacked-out design elements which differentiate it from the regular model and
give it a sporty look. At the front, it flaunts an all-black grille, while on
the sides it gets black door decals, along with blacked-out B-pillars and trunk
lip. The wheel size has been kept the same at 15-inch along with wheel covers
as seen on the entry-level Rapid Active trim.
On the inside, its dashboard gets a dual-tone finish
– Ebony Sand (black) which contrasts with its Ivory slate (white) upholstery.
Like the Active trim, it is equipped with features like standard remote central
locking, a front and rear centre armrest, tilt and telescopic adjustable power
steering, a 2-DIN audio system, four speakers and rear AC vents.
Its safety and security features include rear
parking sensors, anti-glare interior rearview mirror, dual airbags, anti-lock
braking system (ABS), rear windscreen defogger with timer, height-adjustable front
three-point seatbelts, rough road package and an engine immobilizer with a
floating code system. The Skoda Rapid Rider is powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine (105
PS/153 Nm). This engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Skoda Rapid undercuts the majority of its
competitors, including the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz (INR 8.19-9.98 lakh*), the
Hyundai Verna (INR 8.09-11.70 lakh*) and the Honda City (INR 9.81-12.86 lakh*).
