As the 2020 Renault Kwid continues undergoing
rigorous road testing in India, it has been spied once again. YouTube channel
Auto Trend has put up a spy video from the latest sighting. Originally launched almost four
years back in 2015, the Renault Kwid gathered huge attention and became an
instant hit thanks to its aggressive and unique SUV-inspired design. But with
time, the market started losing interest in this entry-level offering. The
mid-cycle update should help it snatch back the popularity the it once enjoyed.
The 2020 Renault Kwid will have a slew of exterior
changes, mostly inspired by the Renault City K-ZE. There'll be a new front
fascia easily recognisable from new, two-tier light setup along with a new
radiator grille. The new car will have restyled bumper and new lower grille
with multiple horizontal slats as well. Elsewhere, changes will include new
wheel caps and tweaked tail lamps. The use of LED DRLs will make the
A-segmenter more glittery and likeable than before.
The interior design of the new Renault Kwid will
most likely be the same as that of the old model. There could be minor tweaks
inside the cabin in the form of fresh trim and upholstery, enhanced MediaNav
infotainment system and an updated instrument cluster. The facelifted Renault Kwid is
likely to be available with the same 0.8- and 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder
petrol engines, but in upgraded, BS-VI version. The engines deliver 54 PS/72 Nm
and 68 PS/91 Nm respectively in the current, BS-IV form. 5-speed manual and
5-speed automated manual should remain the transmission choices.
The pre-facelift Renault Kwid is priced from INR
2.71 lakh*. The updated model could be priced higher starting from somewhere
between INR 2.80-3.00 lakh*.
