Honda is reportedly working on a bigger version of
the ADV 150. Indonesian motoring portal TMC Blog claims that the higher
displacement variant may arrive with a 250 cc motor of the Forza 250. The
quarter-litre variant will reportedly make debut at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show
between 24 October and 4 November.
The source further adds that a 300 cc variant will
join the list in the distant future, most likely at the 2019 EICMA. The
quarter-litre variant will be available in markets like Japan and South-East
Asia while the 300 cc version will most likely head to the European markets.
Styling cues on the 250 cc and the 300 cc variants
will most likely be identical. We expect to see ADV 150 inspired visuals on the
ADV 250 and ADV 300. Thus, the adventure-spec vehicles will feature
apron-mounted twin-pod headlight and a tall windscreen at the front. The ADV
250 and the ADV 300 will pack full LED lighting (headlight, blinkers and
taillight) and a negative backlit display – features that were seen on the
recently unveiled ADV 150.
The addition of cross-spoke wheels will add to the
rugged persona of the ADV 250/300, although Honda may opt for alloy wheels to
keep the costs low. Like the ADV 150, the 250 cc and the 300 cc variants will
use dual-purpose tyres with knobby design.
Hardware specifications will most likely remain
similar to the ADV 150, and the ADV 250/300 will pack conventional front forks
and twin-sided, gas-charger rear springs to perform the shock absorption tasks.
Braking setup will comprise petal-type disc brakes on both wheels (256 mm
front/240 mm rear), while the safety net will be handled by dual-channel ABS.
In terms of performance, the quarter-litre version
will use a 249.01 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine with a fuel
injection system that produces 23.5 PS of peak power at 7,500 rpm and
24 Nm of maximum torque at 6,250 rpm. The ADV 300, on the other hand, will draw 25.1 PS at 7,000 rpm and 27.2 Nm at 5,750 rpm from its 279 cc
single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-valve motor with fuel injection technology.
None of the Honda ADV models are likely to be
launched in India in the foreseeable future.
