Nissan has now revealed a lot more of the second-generation Juke as it
underwent testing at the Millbrook testing track in the United Kingdom. However, much of
the new crossover’s design is visible, and while it isn’t as quirky as its
predecessor, it’s still rather striking thing to look at.
At the front, the Juke wears a pronounced version of
the brand’s V-motion grille that meets with slender lighting elements, which
appear less divisive compared to the outgoing model’s high-mounted units. A dual-tier approach is retained,
with the main headlamps hiding underneath those square covers. As the previous
teaser indicates, these feature a three-pointed design for more flair. Further
down, the lower apron sports a more angular intake, with small fog lamps tucked
away in the bumper corners.
The car’s side profile also undergoes a radical
transformation, with less prominent wheel arches and a distinct character line
that stretches to the rear. One aspect that is carried over from the first
generation is the shape of the side windows, along with the positioning of the
rear door handles.
Around back, the bulbous rear of old has been made
more angular, while the lower section is less “busy” as well. Elsewhere, the
boomerang taillights have been replaced with a more conventional two-piece
arrangement. This appears to give the Juke a larger aperture into the luggage
compartment, with a tailgate that has a less rakish glass piece. Other details that Nissan are
happy to reveal include 19-inch alloy wheels that will come as standard, the
adoption of ProPILOT technology and that the new Juke is larger in size for a
roomier interior.
The new Juke will ride on the CMF-B platform, which
is also used for the Renault Captur, and the engine line-up should include a
mix of small-capacity turbocharged petrol and diesel options, as well as a 1.6
litre petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. We’ll only know more details when the
Juke makes its full debut on September 3.
