The UK’s petrol-powered Mitsubishi Outlander has
been updated for the 2020 model year, with the Japanese automaker claiming that
it is the most affordable SUV on the market with seven seats and 4WD as
standard. Pricing kicks off from £ 28,085 (US$ 36,000), in return for which you
also get an automatic transmission with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters
at no extra cost, among other things.
Enhancements for the 2020 model year include reduced
CO2 emissions that now read 169g/km, as well as improved equipment specs such
as a new 8-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth,
DAB, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a rear-view camera and built-in TomTom
sat-nav for top-spec variants.
The climate control panel has been redesigned,
giving the dashboard a fresh new look. Meanwhile, the driver’s seat now comes
with power lumbar support, whereas the rear seat gains additional ergonomic
padding. Furthermore, buyers can now purchase their Outlander with Mitsubishi’s
signature Red Diamond paint finish.
Other novelties include the trim level monikers,
with entry-level models now dubbed Design – they feature 18-inch alloys, heated
front seats, Keyless Operation System, electronic parking brake, electric,
folding heated door mirrors, front fog lamps, automatic lights and wipers,
cruise control, dual-zone climate control and privacy glass.
As for the flagship spec, it is now dubbed Exceed
and it adds leather upholstery with electric driver’s side adjustment, a
360-degree camera, built-in TomTom sat-nav, LED headlights, high beams and fog
lamps, heated steering wheel, power tailgate, Blind Spot Warning with Rear
Cross Traffic Alert and twin rear USB ports. Pricing for this version starts at
£ 30,385 (US$ 38,950).
