There are no shortage of dress-up parts for the Toyota Hilux in the region, but its recent relaunch in Japan has enabled some big-name tuners there to get their hands on one. One of these is Wald, which has just released a Sports Line Black Bison Edition bodykit for the popular pick-up truck.

Based on the latest Tacoma-like facelift, the kit gives the Hilux a far more aggressive appearance, starting with a new front bumper with huge Mercedes-AMG-style air intakes and a silver skid plate, and buyers can also fit LED lamps into the front fascia. The bonnet can also be decorated with huge scoops and a bug shield.

But it’s the over-fenders that make the biggest impression, adding 55 mm to the width of the truck on either side. The rear end features a tailgate spoiler that wraps around the tail lights, along with a bumper appliqué. Wald also offers a set of Jarret 12-spoke alloy wheels in either 20 or a massive 22 inches in diameter, as well as some outlandish triple side-exit exhausts.

A local parts dealer, JR Parts Centre in Bandar Sunway, already has the kit on offer, but since it comes from Japan, it isn’t cheap – an entire set, made from fibreglass and consisting of the front and rear bumpers, over-fenders and tailgate spoiler, will set you back a whopping RM 15,600. The set costs RM 11,500 without the tailgate spoiler, while the front and rear bumpers alone are priced at RM 5,500.

These prices do not include the front LED lights, which is priced at RM 1,200. As for the individual parts, the rear bumper is priced at RM 2,050, the over-fenders at RM 6,000, the rear tailgate spoiler at RM 3,700, a front roof spoiler (not pictured, complete with LED lights) at RM 4,400, the bonnet bug shield at RM 2,600 and the bonnet scoops at RM 4,000. The last two can be purchased as a bonnet set for RM 6,800. The wheels are also pretty expensive, with the 20-inch set costing RM 13,000 and the 22-inch one an eye-watering RM 17,800. The dealer says pricing for the exhaust system will be announced later on.
