Chinese outlet Autohome managed to get their hands on a few shots of Audi A4 L depicting a grey-colored prototype. We say prototype because it’s still wearing a little bit of tape around the headlights and taillights, as well as on the sides. It’s clear that it has undergone the same changes as the global A4 for the 2020 model year that was unveiled back in May. To recap, there’s a new singleframe grille which is wider and shorter than before, new headlights, re-shaped taillights and new bumpers.

The chrome grille surround is a neat touch, which is something that was also present on its predecessor. We also expect to see a chrome strip at the rear, something Audi and Chinese joint-venture partner FAW have masked on this particular prototype. Inside, the restyled Audi A4 L should get the automaker’s latest MMI infotainment system with the 10.1-inch touch display boasting acoustic feedback, among many other tech.

Finally, there’s the engine range. The current A4 L is available in 35 TFSI, 40 TFSI and 45 TFSI quattro specs. Now, judging by the badges on this car, it appears that the 40 TFSI version will be available with all-wheel drive as well.

The current A4 L 40 TFSI is powered by a 140 PS version of the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline unit that’s used on the A4 L 45 TFSI quattro, where it produces 185 PS, and we expect the same engine to carry over to the Chinese-spec model.
