Depending on the type of limo, you can
pretty much tell what type of passengers are inside: a few teens going to the
prom, a bride-to-be or a wealthy businessman. Throw the Rolls-Royce brand into
the equation, though, and you know that things are about to get insanely
expensive.
The price on this one is € 3 million,
or US$ 3.3 million at today’s exchange rates, tax included. Advertised on Mobile
by Klassen, you can take delivery 6 months after placing the order, and what
you get is a brand new Phantom, which is the definition of opulence on wheels.
In this case, the regular Phantom’s
3,772 mm wheelbase has been extended by over 1 meter to
4,822 mm, and the car is now 7,032 mm long.
Then comes the B7 ballistic protection, complete with partition walls, which
will keep occupants safe in the event of unfriendly fire or explosions.
Now, this being a Rolls-Royce, Klassen
stepped up and added a few extra features. There’s an iMac multimedia center
with PC/Wi-Fi/CD/DVD, Bang & Olufsen premium sound system and ambient
lighting, for when those inside want to relax, and most functions can be
controlled via an iPhone.
The Phantom was already a heavy car,
with a curb weight of 2,610 kg in the extended wheelbase model.
However, in spite of making it several feet longer and bulletproof, the company
didn’t tune the engine at all. Thus, the 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 still makes
571 PS and 900 Nm of torque, but should offer
decent performance for the vehicle that weighs as much as a small house.
