Almost
before the end of the year Toyota has launched a new version of the Land
Cruiser Commercial. It’s called the Active, adds more gear and is already
available to order, with customer deliveries set to commence in March 2020.
Priced
from £ 32,969 for the short wheelbase and £ 33,932 for the long wheelbase model in the United Kingdom, it brings
body-colored door handles and side mirror caps and 19-inch silver alloy wheels
with a new six-spoke pattern.
Inside,
the rugged utility vehicle features the Toyota Touch 2 infotainment system with
an 8-inch touchscreen display, dual-zone climate control and nine-speaker audio
with DAB radio. Other gear includes reversing camera, rear parking sensors,
hill start assist and downhill assist.
These
join the standard items found in the Utility spec such as the Bluetooth, cruise
control, smart entry, dusk-sensing headlights and mud flaps. The options list
includes a navigation system, 7- or 13-pin tow bars and the Essential
Protection Pack that adds the rear bumper plate and rubber floor mats.
Power
comes from a 2.8-liter liter four-cylinder that pushes out 176 PS at 3,400 rpm and 420 Nm of torque between 1,400 and 2,600 rpm.
It’s paired to the six-speed automatic transmission instead of the manual
offered in the Utility, and while Toyota refrained from announcing any
performance specs, the latter does the 0-100 km/h in 12.1 seconds
and tops out at 174 km/h. The combined fuel consumption is 7.5 l/100
km (37.6 mpg UK / 31.3 mpg US).
