The seven-seater SUV only came out in
mid-2018 and received its first update in 2019, complete with a redesign and a
1.6-liter turbo engine rated at 197 hp. Still, based on this latest
find, another facelift seems to be in the brewing.
The latest spy photo shows a Tiggo 8 test
car with a Tiggo 7-like front end, including the headlights, the radiator
grille and the bumpers. The rear isn’t shown, so restyled brake lights are a
possibility. As for the cabin, though, Chery isn’t known to update its
interiors often; the most we’d expect is a larger infotainment screen.
The engine range will also probably remain
unchanged. The crossover currently ships with a 1.5-liter, 156-hp gasoline engine mated to a six-speed manual or semi-automatic transmission. You
can also get it with the abovementioned turbocharged engine, which only
supports DSG for transmission. The drive stays on the front axle, but an AWD
version is possible in the future.
Finally, knowing Chery, we wouldn’t rule
out the possibility that the 2020 facelift will be marketed as a ‘new
generation’, despite the relatively small scope of changes.
