The revived Toyota Supra range will soon be expanded to incorporate the range-topping GRMN (Gazoo Racing tuned by Master of Nurburgring) spec. This version will boast a different body kit, upgraded suspension, lower curb weight, and boosted engine. Right now, the Supra line maxes out at the BMW B58 inline-six engine with three liters of displacement room, 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends the momentum to the rear axle.

Rumor has it that the GRMN version will get exactly 400 hp, but this may be not enough. The U.S.-spec BMW Z4 M40i comes with this engine already boosted to 387 hp, and the Supra GT4 racer boasts 435 hp. Tuner cars are a different story altogether. The insane GR Supra HyperBoost Edition by Boost Logic, which debuted at the last year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, took advantage of a new exhaust system and a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger, which enabled it to churn out 750 hp.

The design of the GRMN Supra remains a mystery, but you may have a look at such concepts as the Supra Wasabi, Supra 3000GT and Supra Performance Line for ideas. The sports car will most likely hold on to its automatic transmission. Toyota admits that it did consider making a stick-shift version of the Supra, but launching the model in two transmission variants at once was too costly, so the company went with just the automatic.

The Chief Engineer of the Supra project mentioned earlier that the sports car would receive at least one new version every year. It looks like the GRMN is going to be it for 2020.
