The new Audi RS6 Avant finally goes on
sale in the U.S. market, with the carmaker celebrating the occasion by offering
the special “RS Tribute Edition” at the same time. The new special edition of
the 2021 Audi RS6 Avant is a loving tribute to the original RS2 Avant that was
introduced back in 1994. You better hurry though as only 25 units will be
offered in total.
Audi’s super wagon features unique styling
elements inside and outside, including a Nogaro Blue exterior paint combined
with black accents on the front grille, rear diffuser, side blades, and black
roof rails. In addition, the new Audi RS6 Tribute Edition rides on 22-inch
silver alloy wheels shod in summer tires while the brake calipers are finished
in red.
The interior of the special Audi RS6 Avant
comes with exclusive Valcona S sport seats and Denim Blue stitching everywhere,
together with carbon inlays for the dashboard, a perforated steering wheel and
RS floor mats. The power output of the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 remains
unchanged, at 591 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels
via an eight-speed automatic transmission. 0-96 km/h comes in just 3.5
seconds while top speed can be optionally raised to 305 km/h. Each Tribute
Edition will feature the sport exhaust as standard, just to let that V8 make
its presence more clear.
The new Audi RS6 Tribute Edition also
comes with the Driver Assistance Package and the Executive Package as standard.
The former includes Audi’s adaptive cruise control while the latter adds things
like heated rear seats, a head-up display, power soft-closing doors, and the
Bang & Olufsen 3D Advanced Sound System.
The original Audi RS2 Avant was introduced
in 1994, essentially creating the high-performance wagon segment. It was also
the first model to wear the RS badge, with Porsche responsible for the
engineering and assembly. Power came from a 2.2-liter five-cylinder turbo
engine that produced 311 HP. 0-100 km/h came in 4.8 seconds.
If you want to own one of the just 25 Audi
RS6 Tribute Editions, you’ll need at least US$ 136,800. The standard 2021 Audi RS6
Avant is priced from US$ 109,995, with both models currently on sale.
