The current generation of the Volkswagen Passat is barely three years old but it has already been updated twice this year, first three months ago and now once again. The China spec had been originally larger than the US and EU specs at 4,933 mm long, and the latest facelift makes it even larger (4.948 mm) thanks to a new front bumper.
The headlights are now adaptive, and there
are a couple of LED stripes on the radiator grille that connect each headlight
with the brand logo in the middle. In a similar fashion, a red LED stripe in
the back links the two taillights together.
Powertrain specifications have yet to be
announced, but we expect everything to stay as it was. The current Passat for
China ships with petrol turbos sized 1.4 and 2.0 liters large, the former
available in ICE (150 PS) and hybridized (211 PS) forms. The latter is obtainable in 186 PS and 220 PS versions. Regardless of which spec you choose, a seven-speed
DSG transmission will drive the front wheels.
There are no photos of the interior, but
we wouldn’t expect any major changes there. The February facelift landed the
Passat for China with sensor-based HVAC controls and new décor elements.
Sales will begin in summer.
