Chinese EV maker Leapmotor already has three production vehicles in its portfolio, including a compact named the T03, an SUV dubbed the C11, and a sports car by the name of S01. A sedan called the C01 will be joining the list soon.

The latest sketches, which the company showed to a wide audience at the Shanghai show, reveal a vehicle based on the same C platform as the C11 model (watch the video for a closer look). That said, the sedan is going to be much larger than the compact crossover at 5,053 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,503 mm tall. The crossover measures 4,750 mm head-to-tail.

The powertrains will likely be the same. In its most basic version, the C11 ships with a single electric motor and RWD. It produces 272 PS and 360 Nm of torque. There are two battery sizes to choose from: 76.6 kWh and 90 kWh, NEDC-rated for 480 and 600 kilometers, respectively. A dual-motor top spec is available with 544 PS and 720 Nm total. It can only be obtained with the 90-kWh battery rated for 550 kilometers of NEDC range.

Going back to the C01 sedan, all we can discern inside the cabin is a tablet-like infotainment display. The company claims the car will exceed 700 kilometers of NEDC range on a charge thanks to its ultra-low drag ratio of 0.23 Cx. Three-mode power steering is also on the list of promised features, and the LeapPilot3.0 system is a possibility (but not confirmed yet).

The official premiere is scheduled for the IAA Mobility show in Munich, Germany in September 2021.
