Human Horizons, a budding Chinese automaker also known as Hozon Auto, has started selling its seven-seat electric SUV named the HiPhi X. The Founder Edition is already available to order on the domestic market. Dual electric motors produce 590 PS and 820 Nm of torque working together, taking the 5.2-meter-long crossover vehicle from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
Interior highlights include a Meridian
audio system, a built-in air freshener, and as many as three displays, the
largest measuring 19.9 inches across. The standard trim version offers six
seats, and the luxury trim replaces the second row bank with two individual
seats, also adding an infotainment system to the rear row.
Prices in China begin from 800,000 Yuan,
which is 50,000 Yuan under the similarly specced Tesla Model X Long Range. On
the upside, the Tesla packs a superior
670 PS and needs 0.1 s less for its standard sprint. The door
layout in particular gives off strong Tesla vibes: you can lift the roof parts
behind the rear row seats and open each out of the seven doors separately.
Like Tesla, Human Horizons bets on direct
online sales first and foremost. However, the company will still be opening up
to 120 physical showrooms, service centers and delivery points throughout China
this year just to be on the safe side.
