Jeep has shared some insights regarding its upcoming electric version of the Grand Wagoneer SUV, announced during the Stellantis EV Day on July 8. Brand CEO Christian Meunier said that the car would command a premium over the standard Grand Wagoneer, because this entire market segment is highly profitable, and it would not be logical to miss out on sales margins.
The model will definitely not be affordable, because buyers of such cars should expect to pay a premium price for all the cutting-edge tech, luxury, comfort and outstanding performance. While the news might upset some of the more wallet-conscious customers, there is no avoiding the fact that the ICE-powered Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models count among the most expensive Jeeps on the market, starting from US$ 68,590 and US$ 87,590, respectively. The base-spec Wagoneer EV will probably come in at US$ 90,000 or so.
It remains to be seen just when the battery SUV reaches the market; most observers seem to agree that Jeep will launch it simultaneously with the ICE Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer facelift in 2024, or even later. Once out, the model will have to compete against the likes of the Cadillac Escalade EV and the upcoming Lucid Gravity.
